DREAM Group Mentoring

Picture of 20-something African American man sitting at a coffee shop table, typing on a laptop. The man has glasses and a gray hoodie, and there is a croissant, a cup of coffee, and a notebook next to him on the table.
In Spring semester of 2023, DREAM experimented with a new type of mentoring called "group mentoring."  In this model, one or two mentors would meet with a group of five to ten students.  The DREAM Board created monthly discussion prompts, but mentors and mentees had complete control of how often they met, how the meeting would happen, what they would do or discuss, etc.

In June, 2023, the DREAM Board collected feedback about the group mentoring model.  During the summer of 2023, the Board is evaluating whether to continue with group mentoring again in 2024.  Check back in September, 2023, to learn more.
DREAM is supported under a grant from the U.S. Department of Education (P116D150005) to the Institute on Community Integration (ICI) at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and is run in collaboration with the Association on Higher Education and Disability.  Opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of the U.S. Department of Education, ICI, or AHEAD.  If you have need assistance with the site or have questions, contact us.
